Seeking Actors in the US

We are currently in the pre-production phase of a dramatic film to be produced in Chicago. We are looking for Arab/Middle Eastern male and female actors between ages of 52-65. Girls On Film is currently seeking submissions of film and video works for the third installment in its screening series. We are looking for challenging, unique, enlightening or just plain entertaining narrative, documentary and experimental shorts by women of color filmmakers from all around the globe. Please include a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope if you would like your submission returned to you. Link TV is a nationwide, non-commercial satellite TV channel available in 23 million homes that provides Americans with a global perspective on news, issues and culture. We are looking for committed interns who are interested in working with us in our Music and Cultural Programming department. The jobs include outreach for music videos, documentaries and foreign feature films, database development and cataloging of our library, website and graphics design, and possibly serving as assistant editors on music programs and promos. Interested applicants should have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. For web design, experience with HTML and Go Live/Dreamweaver is necessary. Knowledge of Flash is a bonus. For production or post-production, applicants should have at least one semester in video production and a working knowledge of Final Cut Pro. Golden Thread Productions, San Francisco Bay Area's only theatre company focused on the Middle East, is seeking a managing director who will lead the organization's operational activities (administration, financials, planning & budgeting, contracts & taxes) and actively contribute to our growth by sharing responsibilities in fundraising and outreach. The ideal candidate will have arts or non-profit administration experience, be politically aware and sensitive to the plurality of thought and culture within the Middle East and its world-wide diaspora. The position is currently budgeted at 20 hrs per week and $21,000 per year. Funded by a major grant from the San Francisco Art Commission.

Bruce Penner of the Prism Coffeehouse, a smoke-and-alcohol-free music venue near the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, is looking for artists (1-7 in number) playing the music of Muslim countries who might be in the midAtlantic area, either based there or touring. The Prism is small with intimate seating - an excellent venue for most Muslim music. It pays no guaranteed fee - only a fee from ticket sales - however the international students and University radio have helped to promote these weekend concerts. Charlottesville is 2.5 hours south of Washington, DC and 3.5 hours north of Raleigh, NC. With no AC, the Prism is closed from June thru most of Sept. Musicians wanted

Melodic players for MediterrAsian Jazz group out of Portsmouth, NH. Reed or bowed intstrument players particularly sought (but players of other instruments are also invited to contact us).   With a style of music they call MediterrAsian Jazz, the group 35th Parallel delivers dynamic performances blending traditional instruments and musical modes with flavors of ambient soundscapes and modern electronics. The group's name is inspired by the latitudinal line running through the geographic regions from which they draw their music: the Middle East, Northern India, North Africa, the Mediterranean, and the United States. Primary instrumentation consists of Middle Eastern electric oud and Indian tabla but is supplemented by a wide range of instruments including bazouki, acoustic guitar, didjeridu, and assorted percussion. The use of looping devices and other technology allows for a variety of sonic textures providing a backdrop for the group's musical explorations. Award-winning Arab American filmmaker is looking to team up with an experienced and dedicated creative producer for a feature film project about an Arab American immigrant. The film is a dramatic comedy, character-driven independent to be shot in Jordan and the U.S. The screenplay was a finalist for the Sundance Screenwriter's Lab, a Quarterfinalist for the Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting and a participant in the 2005 IFP Director's Lab. Call To Visual Artists

Art Buzz, The 2008 Collection, is now accepting entries for publication with international exposure! The competition is open to visual artists worldwide who work in any media (must be 18 or older). Art Buzz is a quality full color "coffee table" type book that is scheduled for release in the fall of 2007 with a vigorous distribution and marketing plan. The pages of Art Buzz are open to all quality visual artists including new artists that have yet to venture out for public scrutiny. Art Buzz, founded in 2004 by artist, Tony Blue, knows how important the big 'E' – EXPOSURE – is. The Art Buzz selection process is fair, unbiased and based on accessibility and a level playing field. All visual artists are encouraged to enter the competition to be included and exposed in the first volume of Art Buzz, the book. Call for Submissions
Artscape is accepting applications for the Gibraltar Point International Artist Residency Program June 2005 Term on Toronto Island, Toronto, Canada. The competition is geared to individuals only and is open to Canadian and international professional artists. Applicants must be 20 years of age or older and can be at any stage of their career but may not be enrolled in any arts degree program. Applications are accepted from artist/creators working in a variety of disciplines including community and environmental art, visual, new media, literary, film and video, theatre and sound. Call to Muslim Artists

Independent curator dedicated to enhancing the image of Muslims and the Islamic world through the arts is now reviewing submissions from visual artists for projects in 2004-2005. New Gallery Seeks Variety of Submissions from US Artists, Designers and Craftspeople

Modern Brown will soon be debuting its on-line creative works gallery. Call for Papers
The Arab American National Museum (AANM) is seeking proposals for panels and papers to be presented at its Arab Americans in the Arts Forum. The Forum will be held at the AANM in Dearborn, Michigan, March 31- April 2, 2006. Topics include Performing Arts: dance, theater and music; Visual Arts: painting, photography, sculpture and calligraphy; Media Arts: film and video; and Literature: poetry, fiction and non-fiction.  Please send a one-page abstract (250-300 word) for a 15-20 minute presentation relating to Arab American arts historical development, production, aesthetics, and/or identity.  For panel proposals, please submit panel title, presenters, and an abstract for each paper within the panel.  In your correspondence, please include your name, the title of your presentation, an email and postal address, your occupation, academic affiliation (if applicable), resume, and your A/V needs. Presentation at the Forum is open to scholars, artists, and activists.  Selected papers will be invited to present at the Forum. Call for Writers

Editorial work has begun on the third edition of the 'Reference Guide to World Literature', a leading reference publication published by the St. James Press. We are currently seeking writers to contribute signed essays on writers and literary works selected for inclusion in the book by our international advisory board. The essays are 700-1100 words in length and contributors receive an honorarium of either $70 or $110 (U.S.) for their contribution. 'Tea Party' is an arts and literary magazine based in Oakland, California. We draw on the tremendous amounts of creative thinkers in the Bay Area, publishing work by artists, writers, intellectuals and activists. We have some national and international content as well. Our target audience is artistically inclined, politically aware, and open-minded. We publish some political content, as long as the writer or artist takes a creative approach. Our magazine's home office is located in the most diverse neighborhood in the country, and we reflect that with a multi-cultural approach to content.
